Gyokuro Hoshino (八女玉露)

Shade Grown & Hand Picked Green Tea Leaves

Yame Hoshino village is known for producing superior Japanese green tea. Its young even leaves produce a refined taste.

Japanese tea experts will quickly realize that Gyokuro Hoshino comes from outside of Shizuoka Prefecture. This fine tea, harvested in Hoshino Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, is the only exception to our rule of tea leaves being sourced exclusively from Shizuoka Prefecture because of its consistent high quality and excellent taste.

  • About Gyokuro Tea (玉露)
Gyokuro is admired as the highest grade of Japanese green tea. Its leaves are grown in the shade for twenty days before being expertly picked by hand. Then they are immediately steamed, dried and carefully rolled into distinctive shapes resembling pine needles. Gyokuro is harvested only once a year in the early spring. The distinctive aroma and refined sweetness make Gyokuro the choice of green-tea connoisseurs.
